WHO PAYS

It’s no secret that both home and residential care can be highly expensive. You therefore want
to ensure you get any help available to pay for support.
Paying for care at home depends on your financial situation, the type of care you require, and
whether you are eligible for support from a local authority. The council will assess your income,
savings and assets. If your capital is below £23,250 (England, as of April 2025), you may get
help with funding.
Fully Funded vs Part Funded
If you qualify, the council might cover the full cost or ask you to contribute a portion. This can
ease the burden of paying for care, even if it’s only partially funded.
NHS Continuing Healthcare
In some cases, you might be eligible for NHS Continuing Healthcare: a package of care paid for
entirely by the NHS, which is designed for those with complex health needs.
Self-Funded Care
If you don’t qualify for support, you may needto pay privately. However, you may still be entitled to:
● Attendance Allowance
● Personal Independence Payment (PIP)
● Carer’s Allowance (if someone else is helping you)
